Keith And His Life-Long Self Improvement Journey

Keith Lee1 About Me
Keith Lee

I started my Self-Improvement journey in Year 1993. My then girlfriend Daphne was diagnosed with nose cancer and needed to go through 40 sessions of radiotherapy, that was 5-days a week for 8 weeks.

Each visit took a couple of hours at the hospital. Time was spent waiting for registration, for her turn for the radio treatment though the treatment session was less than an hour.

I remember during one of those visits, I was feeling bored and picked up a magazine from the newsstand, I think the title of the magazine was “International Business Week”. I found the articles were so interesting and I made a subscription to this magazine.

Not longer after that, I decided that I needed to make daily reading my hobby in order to improve myself. Guess what, my very first book was Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of the Highly Effective People”. I found it so dry and difficult to read and it took me 2 months to finish reading it. And many times, I wanted to give up.

I was glad I persevered. Since then I discovered many more self-improvement and motivational books. I continued with this daily reading habit till now. I got hooked on all these self-improvement stuff that I started to attend such workshops, seminars and talks. I found that I had become a more optimistic and positive person.

In Year 2008 January, Daphne (had become my wife) was diagnosed with cancer relapse. I stopped my online business totally and devoted to take care of her full-time. I accompanied her for her chemotherapy treatment every week as the cancer had spread to her lung and liver, I cooked, I washed, I prayed, I did research on the Internet hoping to find some alternative treatment that could help Daphne as she was suffering from the chemotherapy very badly. It was a very difficult time. I was glad that I could remain positive and Daphne was truly a fighter.

Unfortunately, in Year 2010 January, Daphne went home to be with the Lord after a 2 years battle with cancer. And I sank into deep sadness and grief. I missed Daphne very much and cried most of time. Only until end of the same year, I could manage to slowly move out of the sadness.

Now, more than one year since Daphne’s departure, I have become stronger physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I thank God for His mercy and faithfulness for helping Daphne and I to deal with her sickness during those 2 years and later me to cope with the grief for almost 1 year.

I do also believe besides God, those years of reading and attending self-improvement workshop help me to cope with the stress and crawl back to my normal life in less than a year.

I started this website and blog in Year 2006, but during the last 3 years, I did not check on it at all and lately discovered that it was hacked and all my blog posts were gone. So I decided to restarted this blog from scratch.

I truly want to share what I have learnt all these years and hope that they will serve my readers positively.
